Details

A week after our two week Northern Plains trip with the team, Brindley and I were out on the chase again. A decent tornado setup was taking shape on the SD/ND/MN corner on the climatological peak of tornado season for the Northern Plains7. We spent the night in Lacrosse, WI before making the haul west to the far northeastern corner of South Dakota.

Towels or Funnels
3 miles N of La Crosse, WI
10:24 AM
Super high dewpoints on those late season June chases make for oppressive humidity and soggy storms. We were hoping for funnels, but could very well end up just needing towels instead.

Witch Hat
4 miles SSE of Cannon Falls, MN
12:02 PM
Weird witch's hat cloud fragment

Sunset Convection
Alberta, MN
9:09 PM
The remaining portion of this log is super abbreviated as it was written years after the fact and little record remains of the chase details. I believe our target failed to initialize beyond some lazy towers at sunset, which we stopped to lapse before calling the chase and getting dinner and a room in Wilmar.

Dusk Cumulus

Conclusion

Apparently we didn't go west far enough down the boundary where forcing was better per the outlook discussion and storm reports.
