Day two on a Northern Plains run with Jennifer Brindley Ubl. June 17 is the climatological peak for tornado season in Minnesota and the Dakotas, so I always try to find myself up there if there is something to chase. This day, however, we were apparently stuck between target areas. SPC highlighted two areas: the northwoods of Wisconsin and northeast Minnesota, which we'd never both with due to the tree covers. And then far to the southwest on the CO/NE border, which was simply out of range for us. We played it locally instead as we ended the previous day's chase in Wilmar, MN. The rest is abbreviated log as this was written years after the fact and the chase was pretty much a bust.

This scuddy gust front and wannabe wall cloud was the highlight of the day for us.

Hanging out with a nice dinner makes up for lackluster chasing.

Conclusion

We missed some dusty, brief tornadoes down in Nebraska apparently while our Minnesota storms were pretty lackluster. It was a fun day on the chase and night hanging out though.
