Details
An Impossible Whopper while awaiting initation at Galesburg target. A tiny cell went up to my east, which I brushed off. It turned out to be decently structured and would be the only show in the area as the target otherwise fizzled.
A line of supercells erupted well to my south. I scrambled to make a redemption play on them. Tornado reports came in from Edinburg, just a couple dozen miles from my home. I struggled to see the base through the lightning flashes and mature summer corn. It looked like a lowering under a supercell base, but all that remained were the occluded remnants. I had come in late.
Conclusion
The last chase of 2019 turned out to be a missed tornado bust, just missing an EF1 near Edinburg that wasn't far from my house.
Lessons Learned
- Don't be a snob and write off the small schnibs at your target as they might be the only play that materializes.
