Partial Eclipse

I took the family out to see the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse. We set up near Lawrenceville, IL. Traffic was heavy, but moving on the way into the area as there were plentiful side roads to utilize. We avoided Lawrenceville itself and picked a side road out in the fields.
Soft shot from a cheap telephoto lens reveals some red/orange solar prominences
Ultrawide angle stack showing sky color, halo, and planets
Video photobombed by a small plane
Capitalizing locals. We saw a parking lot in a town on the edge of totality asking for $20 even, silly considering how much wide open, empty roads and lots there were across the region.

Conclusion

A successful viewing of the eclipse with only minimal cirrus cloud cover, and no issues with crowds or traffic.
